String Bikini Swimsuit
The first record for a string bikini swimsuit ever worn by a woman was the one worn by nude dancer Micheline Bernardini in the mid-1940s. This outfit caused a stir in those times, but it eventually became accepted as one of the sexiest and most comfortable garments for swimming. It is more popular today because it is one bikini design that offers the least amount of tan lines. Avid sunbathers can easily remove the knots from their barely-there bikinis while lying down to eliminate unsightly tan lines entirely.
This small piece of beachwear also comes in a wide array of colors and designs each year, no matter how small the swatches of cloth are used in each set. Because of its small size, this two-piece is one kind of swimwear that will definitely turn heads on the beach, not because it is small but because it accentuates the female form so well.
Materials used for strappy two-pieces
As with most swimsuits, the cloths used in string beachwear are diverse, from natural hair to synthetic fabrics. Wool was the fabric that swimsuits were made of in the 19th century. Other popular natural fibers used for various types of two-pieces include rubber and cotton. Today, most bikinis are now made of Latex and Nylon, the latter of which is also a popular material for women’s pantyhose. Other materials which have been used to manufacture bathing suits, from the most conventional to the most exotic include Dacron, made by DuPont, rayon, and Spandex. Spandex is a special synthetic fabric invented by DuPont that is commercially sold as Lycra. This is considered one of the most ideal pieces for swimming because of its ability to hug the body tightly like a second skin. Another synthetic material used for swimming apparel is Neoprene, used mostly in wetsuits.
Extreme variations of the skimpy bathing suit
You may probably think that the modern bathing suit cannot get any smaller than this. However, there are extreme variations to this already very skimpy swimming garment that do more to reveal than to conceal. These are the string–only swimsuits, which does away with the triangular swatches of cloth and leaves the wearer with straps running through the groin from the front to the back. The same is true for the top where only strips of fabric run through the breasts and nothing else. String-only swimwear is the ultimate in sexy and exotic swimming attire, perfect for a romantic dip in the Jacuzzi with a special someone.
